Within these walls lies a harmonious space where design elements converge to a focal point of captivating visual interest.
In the common area, a black void draws the eye towards the work area.
The culminating point of the communal zone, the black void is elevated to eye level, drawing focus to the activities taking place in the area with its striking visual presence.

An inquiry into the void reveals a niche—decorative recesses set into its surface for storage and display.
Fitted with two horizontal planes of varying scales, the topmost layer serves as a box up for the path of services.
Electrical and plumbing lines and exposed trunking are enclosed in this box-up to fade these visual blights into the background.

The second layer creates a shelf for storage and display, and the third fulfils the purpose of a worktop with integrated fittings.
Finished with recessed lighting fixtures that run the length of the void, a sense of layered dimensionality is introduced as they illuminate the cabinetry in a dispersed fashion.

The pathway of interest continues along the space into the dining area.
Parallel to this set of cabinetry lies a workstation for light cooking and serving. Adjacent to it, a dining table beckons guests to gather.
Positioned close to one another, their considered placement streamlines the process of serving food to guests with an uninterrupted flow. The result is a harmonious composition that allows for the efficient use of space without obstructions, creating a seamless experience for those within the environment.

An interior flow that optimises space to complement functionality creates a sense of seamlessness and uninterrupted movement.
These three elements, designed with intention and purpose, work synergistically to create a spatial experience that facilitates a flow of movement ideal for communal gatherings, while adopting an open concept for optimal visual access.
An open floor plan that eschews material segregation stands as a testament to the notion that you can do more with less.

The corridor converges at the curved wall of glass blocks—a work of art in its own right that precedes our intervention.
The natural interplay of light and shadow on the glass blocks creates a captivating visual display.

By maintaining the integrity of its original form—a minimalist approach to the appreciation of space as it is—we were able to showcase its inherent beauty and invite contemplation and reflection.
Sometimes, creating a moment within a space is simply allowing it to speak for itself.

Beyond the curved wall of glass blocks is a corridor that leads deeper into the heart of the space, offering a passage to the private areas with a sense of purpose and tranquillity.
In this bedroom, a layered approach to functionality was employed to create distinct layers of space that serve different functions—all while retaining the openness of the room.
To achieve this, we opted against erecting doors for spatial segregation and instead used walls as subtle dividers to add an extra dimension to the design while maintaining an open feel.

A wardrobe discreetly peeks behind this wall, adding an element of intrigue and segregation within the space.
A partition wall that doubles as a bed back wall was erected to create a corridor within the room for a semblance of a walk-in wardrobe and vanity area.
On the other side of the partition wall, edge-to-edge mirror panels and a ledge for storage finish the wardrobe vanity area. This open-format approach to spatial segregation allows for a seamless transition between zones while maintaining an unobstructed flow throughout the space.

An achromatic tone-on-tone colour scheme is timeless and harmonious, resonant in its perpetuity.
A scale of grey to white, juxtaposed by contrasting black accents brought in through the use of metal fixtures—such as doors, door frames, countertops, and sinks—finishes the space with unity and cohesiveness and a touch of sophistication and elegance.
A refined tonal palette that transitions from varying shades of a unified visual identity creates a subtle and understated ambience.

In the second room, the original construction of the wall had fallen short of framing the bed, leading to an imbalance between the two elevations.
As a response to the existing architecture, we extended the length of the wall with the intention to create symmetry.
The extended wall that now anchors the bed eliminates any visual intersections between elements by restoring balance to the spatial arrangement. Supportive interventions that respond to spatial context can enhance both the flow and visual appeal of spaces.

Beyond the enclosed bathroom is a pocket of space that welcomes an abundance of natural light.
A portion of the extended bathroom was carved out here for a sink that would serve as a versatile vanity area.
These modifications, albeit a departure from conventional design and utility, elevate the functionality and ambience of the space as a bespoke sanctuary where the occupant can find respite from the exterior environment.
